On the last day of the Brandywine video project program some parting words.

Michelle: “I will miss yaw”,

Cheyanne:” I had fun. It was it nice program

Quasir: ” Bye brandy wine i had a nice time”

Cierra: “I learned a lot about nutrition”

Jonathan: “Brandy wine was a great experience”

Shaquan: “I had fun

Wykia: “bye”

Benjamin: “I will never look at food and movies the same way “

Shannon: I learned as much as much as taught.

What is a black movie?

We watched an interstitial on a short film series DVD about what is a black film. They said a black film is a film that is created financed and distributed by a black person or people. We found out that most of the movie that we see with black people in it is not a black film by this definition. We watched the movie The Only Way Out by Philadelphia writer and director Grady Jones. We liked the movie because it was in West Philly which is our neighborhood and we related to the story. We found out that most black films by the earlier definition are usually low budget and don’t have star’s in it.

Our Positive Experiences at Brandywine

Johnathan; We met Mike Jared from good day when we were filming at love park interviewing people in the farmers market. Another positive experience we had was learning our jobs like working with the camera or setting up lights. I also learned how to be more selfconscious about my weight and eating habits. My best positive experience is going out and meeting new people.

Dion; My positive experiences in brandywine are I experienced new things. Another is I discovered a closer whole foods. After the physical challenge made me intensify my workouts. Also lastly I learned new things is in conclusion this is a good experience.

Quasir; Some positive experiences at brandywine are…

One is going out to [places and having fun with my co-workers. Another is to interview people on the streets. The third experience is going out to eat. Things that I learned is to work with the lights. Finally to take better quality pictures.

Cierra; My positive experience at brandywine was that I learned alot about interviewing people. Also working with the camera learning about nutrition and how to eat right. Now i watch what i eat and read food labels it also helped me to travel more. I also had alot of un with the people i work with. I liked trying new food and going to places i never went before.

Latia; Getting my lunch break everyday. My second one is interviewing people. Also having fun with fellow co-workers. I got to meet people and got to go to love park and dance to the cube it shuffle.

Michelle; My positive experience at brandywine workshop was video taping interviews, learning about the video camera, and learning how to shoot movies.

The Art of Editing

We talked about the art of editing. We also watched clips of the movie El Marichi . In the movie the director used one camera but when he edited it, it looked like more than one . We learned how editing can set the tone of a movie . We also worked on final cut pro and put footage on a timeline . We then edited some of the footage from love park .

Latisha Huckabee is a visual artist from Fort Worth Texas. She’s creating a piece based on a vintage flour sack. She was inspired by good nutrition for her children. She talked about the similac baby formula versus breast milk. She told us about the side effects of giving the baby similac and the benefits of breast feeding.She has a garden where she grows, carrots, onions ,beans,and tomatoes.

We went to the wellness of you garden on 15th & Christian . We spoke to the owner Fatimah Gamble , and her assistant Deana Woodall . They talked about the importance of good nutrition in urban communities .

Dion – was inspired to make a vegetable garden .

Wykia – was inspired to try new vegetables .

Michelle – was inspired to plant a flower .

Shaquan – was inspired to start taken care of her garden .

quasir – i learned about the effects of eating to much unhealthily food which resulted making lethargic also aka the it is i learned about how to set the lights an the right place .

ben – i never been to whole foods and i didn’t know that they had many vision of food. also i learned about sound , and the imports of white balance .

michelle – i already knew about nutrition but i also learned about the camera .

cheyenne – i learned that food that are good for you is more money that you have to pay , i learned how to position medley in front of the camera .

johnatehan – i learned that mcdonalds chicken strips is the most unhealthily chicken in america , i also learned how to work the three point lighting .

shaquan – i learned how to be more hearthy , i also learned how to work the camera .

dion – i learned that it is people choice to eat unhealthily or not , i also learned about everything about production .

wykia – i learned that food has alot to do about our body growth food effects us in a lot of ways such as skin , i also learned how to interview people .

latia – i learned that unhealthily food can effect your skin , also i learned the right way to take pictures .

cierra – i learned the differences between heathly food and unhealthily food , also learned how to interview people .

Days in production.

We took a trip to love park on wednesday they had the farmers market we learned about local farmers and agriculature.We talked to Shabazz, Jerone from penn university he discuss the importants of local produce we also had a group line dance cube it shuffle with other people from love park.

On thursday we took a trip to mc.donalds to see the first hand effects of eatin mc.donalds food mostly everybody was tired or sleepy and then some people ate carrots and felt renergized.Later on that day we did some phyiscal challenges.pushups and we did a lap around the block and everybody had to make it around the block under three mintues.
